  • Distinguishing characteristics: Silver on the side and greenish on the dorsal surface.  Yellow colors are present on the ventral and tail surface.

 

In the Wild

  • Habitat:  They live in saltwater near sandy beaches.
  • Diet:  They eat clams, shrimp and crabs.
  • Size:  Pompano can grow up to 2 feet.

Other information

  • Commercial Uses:  Pompano are considered very good table fare but are only caught in small numbers by commercial fishermen.
